Description

The RX-100H is a full-size DAT recorder made by Sharp, and introduced in 1987.

The RX-100H was part of the Optonica product range.

The RX-100H featured 4DD (4 direct drive) motors.

Included fixed and variable analog line level output sockets, and optical and coaxial digital input and output connectors.

Features

High-Sampling D/A and A/D Conversion

The deck utilises independent left and right channel configurations for both D/A and A/D converters to ensure zero channel crosstalk.

4× Oversampling Digital Filter

The D/A stage uses a 16-bit, 4-times oversampling digital filter combined with a 4th-order active filter to eliminate high-frequency grid noise.

Anti-Aliasing Filter

To protect signal integrity during A/D conversion, it incorporates a highly precise GIC-type 9th-order active filter to suppress aliasing noise.

DC Amplifier Design

Uses a direct-coupled (DC) amplifier layout across all output stages to maximise linear fidelity and response across all audio frequency bands.

4-Motor Drive System

The transport mechanism is constructed with four direct-drive (DD) motors, offering high stability, long-term durability, and low wow-and-flutter.

Aluminium Die-Cast Chassis

Built on a rigid, heavy-duty metal foundation to isolate the tape transport and delicate optical tracking components from physical vibrations.

Optical Tension Servo

Leverages an advanced optical sensor framework to dynamically adjust tape tension, reducing physical wear on fragile digital tapes.

Digital Optical I/O

Outfitted with dedicated digital optical input and output terminals for pure, bit-perfect digital-to-digital cloning and transfers.

Isolated Power Supplies

The digital logic circuitry and sensitive analogue audio sections run on fully isolated power grids derived from separate transformer windings to block electrical cross-interference.

Subcode Support

Fully capable of writing and reading standard DAT subcodes for rapid track indexing, automatic skip markers, and timecode placement.
