D-07

The D-07 was Pioneer's top of the range consumer DAT recorder, released in 1992.

It featured 96kHz sampling (analog input only) and was used as the basis for Pioneer's professional DAT recorder the D-9601.

Uses an 18-bit A/D converter and twin 256 x oversampling 1-bit D/A converters.

Vibration proof chassis.

60 character naming and TOC display.

Wide Range mode [96 kHz High Sampling)

In addition to Standard Play (SP) and Long Play (LP) modes. Wide Range (WIDE) mode is newly incorporated to allow recording (analog input only) and playback of high frequencies above 40 kHz by operating the signal processor LSI, capstan motor and drum motor at twice the speeds in SP mode. The recording time of WIDE mode is halved, but a continuous wide range recording of 1 hour is still possible using a 120-minute tape.

Legato Link Conversion

Legato Link Conversion provided with Standard Play (SP) and Long Play (LP) modes allows to reproduce signals beyond the conventional limit of their formats. Legato Link Conversion reproduces music with closer quality to the original sound by assuming the original signal before recording from the recorded signal.

High-speed Al (Artificial Intelligence) search

To reduce the searching time in direct tune selection or program play, the Al search reads the subcodes recorded on tape to learn the tune numbers and tune start positions and searches tunes using these data at a maximum of 300 times the conventional searching speed.

SCMS (Serial Copy Management System)

SCMS allows digital copying of digital signal from copyrighted original digital sources. The digital signal can be copied only once, and further digital copying from the copied tape is not possible.

Long Play mode

Long Play (LP) mode allows to record program sources input in the form of analog signals for twice the period possible in Standard Play (SP) mode (up to 4 hours). Even program sources input in the form of digital signals can be recorded in LP mode provided that their sampling frequency is 32 kHz.

Subcode application functions

Subcodes including various types of time information, start-IDs for indicating the start of tunes, skip-IDs useful for cutting out unwanted sections, tune number data and end mark for indicating the end of programs can be recorded and erased freely. Moreover, you can record TOC (Table Of Contents) data for tape editing and library organization, and Al search is performed also using this TOC data.

Character Pack function

This unit incorporates the function for recording and reproducing (displaying) the character data as defined by the DAT format. This function allows an additional recording of a pack of character data in up to 60 characters including the tune name, performer name and memo at the beginning (on the start-ID) of each tune. When this unit reads the character data at the time of playing the tape, it automatically displays the data on the counter display (by scrolling from the right to the left). The read data is stored in the microcomputer so that it can be displayed again by pressing a button.
